June 16, 2009.10:11 Spring/ summer 09 update
Hey folks
Ive just finished modeling 4 main characters and some background characters for a commercial for Nexus productions down in London. I spent nearly 5 weeks living in a flat very close to the famous tower bridge and really enjoyed my time down there. It was a nice change of scenery, and it was good to work at such a great studio and meet so many talented artists and directors. Hopefully, ill be back there for some more work in the future.
Ill post some of the work i did once i get permission.
Back to normality now. Im currently working on a few small freelance jobs, and hoping to make a start on some new personal work, and perhaps try out some Zbrush sculpting.
Finally, 2 Pieces of mine (Suzie kickin' back and Thom Yorke) are in the new Ballistic publishing Expose7 book on page 38 and 39. I will also have a tutorial of Thom Yorke in the soon to be relased Digital arts Masters 4 book from 3dTotal.

March 08, 2009.19:17 Skiing, Coca cola & interview
Hi folks - its been a while.
Ive been pretty busy with 3 freelance projects since i came back from my month in China in October (which was awesome).
One of the projects i am able to mention (as it broadcasted during the superbowl) is this advert for Coca Cola i worked on. I modeled and textured 5 characters. Seeing as there are so many in the advert, some of them are real 'blink and you'll miss it' moments. I really enjoyed working on this as it was the most high profile job i have worked on. More of that kind of thing, please! The folks at Nexus productions did a brilliant job, and they were great to work with.

Next up, is an interview i have had published in 3DTotal's 3Dcreative magazine this month. I made the front cover and have a big 11 page interview which you can read here: http://www.3dcreativemag.com/artist...interview02.pdf
I also have a tutorial of the Thom Yorke image i did appearing in 3DTotal's forthcoming art book 'digital arts masters 4'.
Finally, im going to Austria (Mayrhofen, in fact) on a week-long skiing holiday next week (14th March), and im really looking forward to taking in the mountain scenery and having fun zooming down the slopes!
September 11, 2008.11:15 Away again!
Hey folks - just a quick update.
Im still loving my break from the 9-5 daily grind, and im currently busy with little bits and bobs of freelance work to keep the money coming in.
I have ideas and plans for some new personal work, but just cant find the time to start at the moment due to the freelance work im getting!
I should hopefully expect to create some new characters before the year is out - i still keep putting off working on my short film due to the fact that i just dont enjoy animating anywhere near as much as character creation, and when it comes to personal work, you just want to do things you enjoy.
My 'suzie and the lil' nipper' piece has been accepted into the new Expose book, and will also feature in the gallery of the upcoming issue 110 of 3D world, which has made me pretty chuffed.
Finally, I will be going on yet another big holiday (while i can!) to asia. This time, im taking a break from my favourite place (Japan), and are going to China for a month in October. Hong kong, Yangshuo, Beijing and Shanghai are the main places me and my friend will visit. Should be great. I hope i can find some much-needed inspiration in the karst mountains of Yangshuo!
March 11, 2008.20:09 Time for change.
Well, its been a while!
I went to Tokyo over the new year and had an excellent time as usual. Ill post some pics when i get them uploaded to a public space.
When I got back from my trip, i still felt bored and uninspired at work - even after the long time off i had after my dad died, and a 2 week holiday. I was thinking of my life and how others i know have moved on to bigger and better things, on cooler projects with bigger teams, and decided i would force myself to do a similar thing in order to keep me happy, as i dont feel happy and fulfilled with life at the moment.
As a result, rather than become lazy, comfortable and complacent, I recently quit my full-time job of nearly 4 years at the Charactershop, in order to take a long break and recharge my creative juices. I need to find the love for the job again, to feel inspired and entheusiastic about 3D as an artform in itself. Right now i feel drained and like a total change of career, though i know that would be a silly waste of my skills.
Im taking a long break now, to focus on living, getting some personal work done such as my showreel and long-underworked short film. I will eventually perhaps take on the odd freelance job from my old employers, and from outside sources, but for now, im not looking for work at all - just loving a break and having all the time i need to re-inspire myself.
So, hopefully, when im ready, ill emerge into the world looking for work with a shiny new showreel, more entheausiasm, a bigger ambition and better skills!
In other news, i was blown away to find that my portfolio was ranked 7th (or was it 8th? I forget!) most viewed in the world! That was a massive confidence boost for me, and further egged me on to force myself to change for the better.
Thanks to everyone for your continued support, and i hope i can show you some new work when i get some done!
November 26, 2007.22:18 RIP
Well, its not good news this time.
My Dad died on the 20th of November, and we are all shocked and gutted that he was taken from us of a sudden heart attack at the ripe age of 57.
I need to look after my mom for the time being, and be there for my remaining family. Dont think ill be on my computer much for a while, let alone get any work done.
Not even sure if im going to Tokyo anymore. Its already been paid for in full, cant be cancelled, and im sure my dad will want me to go, though it wont be the same ringing in the new year knowing what has happened.
